The State of the Deskless Workforce 2021 | Australia

2.7 billion workers worldwide are deskless, that's equal to 80% of the global workforce. In April 2021, we polled 1,200 workers aged 18+, based in Australia and working within the Care, Logistics, Retail & Hospitality Sectors.

This is what we found out:

  • 94% are contacted off-hours by their employer

  • 33% would choose a flexible schedule over higher pay

  • 55%  have noticed understaffing issues

The deskless workers are the childcare educators, age care workers, retail assistants, warehouse managers, bartenders and logistics employees who keep a country going. They are the lifeblood of our economy and, often, front line workers. When the global pandemic hit last year, for the deskless workers, working safely from home wasn’t an option.
