We meet Corinna Karg

Written by Mikaela Clavel | Jul 8, 2022 10:52:34 AM

It's time to meet one of our Quinyxers! This time; Corinna who is a Product Designer in the R&D Team at the Stockholm office.

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

One of the nice things about being a Product Designer is that every day is different. Some days it’s all about preparing research or talking to our customers to understand their needs, some days it’s nitty-gritty pixel pushing in Figma. These days it’s also a lot of big-picture work, like collaborating with the other designers to nail down our design vision, and joining workshops to build a design system together. There’s always something new to dive into.

You started as a Visual Designer. What did the journey to Product Designer look like?

Yes, I joined Quinyx as a Visual Designer in early 2020, and worked in that role for about a year before I switched over to Product Design. I had been curious about Product Design for a while, and since I had worked in Visual Design roles for quite a few years and I felt like it would be a fun new challenge to try something different. Even though there are a lot of overlaps between Visual and Product Design, it was a steep learning curve in the beginning. But everyone in the team was incredibly helpful, so the onboarding went quick and smooth. In the end, it was the right decision and I’m grateful how supportive Quinyx was to make that shift possible.

What are you most proud of so far?

Both teams that I’m part of the Design Team and the Employee Experience Team, have a culture that encourages continuous learning, improving and growing together. So when it comes to what I’m proud of, it’s probably the fact that in this role, I can look back at then end of each week feeling that I’ve learned something that I hadn’t known before. Due to that, we managed to release a whole range of cool new features that will hopefully make the end users’ lives happier.

.

Any exciting projects right now?

There are many, but one of the most exciting things is that the Design Team is working closely together with Front End and BrandCom to build a new Design System. That's going to improve everybody’s workflows a lot, and make Quinyx more scaleable in the long run.

Whats your favourite Quinyx-memory?

It’s hard to pinpoint an all-time favourite memory since I’ve been very lucky in the colleague department, and we’ve shared too many laughs to count. Once you find yourself meeting coworkers on the weekends for non-work related hang-outs, you know you’ve found a good crowd. Although, now that I think about it: Someone (who may or may not be in the Design Team) dropping a cheese platter and the awkwardness that followed will always be one of my top 10 memories.
