It's time to do things differently

Wherever we go in the world we always find one common denominator when it comes to time; there’s never enough of it. So we thought we’d try to change that by developing a way to give people their time back.

In a digital world that never sleeps, time pressures are greater than ever, not just in meeting that last minute deadline but also in finding time to stop, recharge and reflect. Time pressure creates stress and tension within individuals and within a workplace. Tense and stressful environments are generally not positive, productive or efficient environments.

However, it’s positive workplaces that are consistently the most successful. This is true across all industries; businesses who have the most engaged and positive staff always see the best results.

We believe that one of the ways to achieve this is to reduce the pressures on time across the business and to empower employees to feel part of that journey. That way they enjoy work and they contribute to the long-term success of the business.

We would all love it if we could find more time in each day. By optimising our days and our schedules we can make sure that we’re making the most of the time that’s given to us. That’s why we’ve seen the explosion of apps and tools to help people manage time and tasks. Tools like Evernote, Wunderlist and Todolist all work well for individuals but typically businesses are much slower to adopt new technologies.

That’s why we think it’s time for businesses to do things differently.

Time

And here’s how they can do it:

1.Fast, stand-up meetings

According to Forbes, businesses who adopt stand-up meetings reduce the meeting length by up to 25%. When you have back to back meetings on any given day this soon adds up. Stand-up meetings aren’t just for developers. They help keep people focussed, they reduce the risk of meetings diverting off topic and they help form a greater sense of unity among team members. There are also many health benefits to standing and not sitting. Give them a try and see how standing-up can start relieving the time pressure.

2. Less talk, more action

Do more and do it more often. Talking and communication is great but be careful you don’t spend all your time thinking, planning and coming up with great ideas. Make sure you find the time to make the ideas a reality. Don’t be afraid to take risks and to do things that haven’t been done before. The best start-ups will be the ones that aren’t afraid to do things their way instead of following traditional patterns. The most successful businesses are the ones who play a game where there aren’t any rules, where ideas are the strongest currency and where there are no limits on what is possible.

3. Clear objectives. Defined outcomes

Know what you want to achieve and have a clear map of how to get there. Like any journey, it’s important everyone who is on it feels like they are a key part in it. By having a clear objective in mind and defined outcome you can achieve you keep the focus sharp and avoid drift.

4. Exceeding expectations

The best thing about exceeding expectations is making people smile. Whether it’s customers or staff, when you go the extra mile for them and deliver more than they expected they are left with a positive, uplifting experience. It’s these experiences we all want more of.

5. Embracing technology

It’s here where there is the biggest scope for change. Businesses who are embracing new technology are leading where others will follow. Advances in technology and software development are letting business-owners run their business in a quicker, more efficient way and they can do it from any location providing they are online. Technology is also engaging staff in new ways while giving them more time to focus on their roles. At Quinyx, our software constantly evolves based on our users feedback meaning the day-to-day tasks like scheduling, absence management and task management become more efficient and free up even more time.

Lost time is never found. That’s why we want businesses to make the most of each minute they have. Each day we see the businesses who embrace new technology and new ideas to manage their workforce having the most success. They do things differently and they enjoy work. Let us help you do the same.
