Not only does this benefit the end user, giving them a clear, easy to understand list of the jobs they need to do each shift, it is also invaluable for managers, giving them a complete overview in real-time of what work is being completed.
Effective task management has a host of benefits - especially in process driven industries like retail and healthcare. However, it can be particularly time consuming for managers and - when things don’t go to plan - can quickly add to their admin burden. This is what our latest update addresses.
Enabling employees to add and edit tasks
We’re improved the task scheduling feature so employees will have the power to add and edit tasks for their shifts in the mobile app.
Some of our customers schedule their employees based on tasks. For example, a retailer might schedule an employee who can do the tasks of opening the store, stocktaking and closing the store. These tasks are set as portions of the employee’s shift.
However, like many things in life, day-to-day in the store can be full of surprises and things we don’t see coming. Tasks might take longer or the employee might get pulled in to helping out somewhere else in the store like serving customers if there’s a surge in demand.
Currently, only the manager can add tasks or edit information related to a task which they would do after the employee added a comment to the shift.
When this happens regularly it creates unnecessary admin for managers and their feedback has been they want the employee to handle the task administration themselves.
All new possibilities in task scheduling
The new functionality we’ve developed empowers the employee and makes it possible for them to edit, add, and delete tasks in the mobile app. Alongside empowering employees, it takes away admin work for managers. Everyone who is currently using Task Scheduling can enable employees to use this functionality moving forward.
With this new feature employees will be able to:
- Select shift type for the task
- Choose a from and to time (can only be within the mother-shifts from and to time)
- Save (create) the task in the mother shift.
- Edit the from & to time & shift type for existing tasks
- Delete tasks
Great task management is so much more than a to-do list. It’s a way businesses can do everything from ensuring they are compliant to providing a better experience for their customers. It’s a great way to optimize the way you work while making your workforce more productive and efficient.
